Brief Description

An apprenticeship place is up for grabs at Uttoxeter’s one and only steak restaurant, Parrilla steak & grill!
Using only fresh, local products you will get chance to be part of the team in creating seasonal dishes with a Latin American twist.
You’ll be involved in all aspects of the kitchen, such as butchery, fishmongery, bakery & patisserie.

Qualifications Required

GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (Apprentices lacking these qualifications must gain them before taking the end point assessment.)

Personal Qualities

Positive can do attitude.
Willing to take on both praise and critiques.
A sponge for information.
Willingness to step into the unknown and learn new skills.

Skills Required

A good understanding of kitchen life, such as the hours required to work, the temperatures in the work place.
A good use of knife skills.

Training to be Provided

Level 2 Commis Chef apprenticeship standard
Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and day/block release.  The programme will culminate in an End Point Assessment, where all the skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.

Future Prospects

We are looking at offering a full time position for the right candidate on completion of apprenticeship. We also have good links with numerous restaurants in Birmingham and London should the apprentice wish to look further afield, and would gladly assist in helping achieve their goals.

Vacancy Detail

A fun atmosphere mixed with a real passion for food.
Begin the day with a tea/coffee and a brief into the day ahead, discussing what prep needs to be done & any specials for the day/week.
• Commence with prep required for the day.
• Be involved fully in lunch service between 11:30-2pm.
• Afternoon break to wind down and relax between services.
• Return to kitchen at 5pm to commence dinner service between 5:30-9pm.
• Cleaning of all kitchen (as a team).
• Home time!!!

Other Information

Ability to travel, such as driving, access to public transport, or be picked up and dropped off.
Increase in hourly wage upon review for positive development and enthusiasm.
