Brief Description

To work under the direct instruction of teaching staff, usually in the classroom with the teacher. Provide general support to the teacher in the care of pupils and management of the classroom.

Qualifications Required

GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (Apprentices lacking these qualifications must gain them before taking the end point assessment.)

Friendly yet professional and respectful approach, open and honest, committed to the needs of the pupil.

Skills Required

• Good communication and organisational skills.

• Ability to relate well to children and adults.

• Ability to work as part of a team.

Training to be Provided

Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship standard
Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and day/block release. The programme will culminate in an End Point Assessment, where all the skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.

Future Prospects

On completion of apprenticeship there may be a possibility of other opportunities available within the school.
