Brief Description
Kickstart your career in carpentry at the prestigious Repton School! The primary purpose of this apprentice carpenter is to works under the supervision of experienced carpenter to learn the trade and gain hands-on experience. The post holder will provide support to the School in all aspects of carpentry and joinery.
Qualifications Required
GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (Apprentices lacking these qualifications must gain them before taking the end point assessment.)

Training to be Provided
Level 2 Wood Occupations Site or Architectural (Bench) apprenticeship standard
Level 1 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and day/block release. The programme will culminate in an End Point Assessment, where all the skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.
Future Prospects
Full time employment at the end of the training period.

An average week as a Carpenter Apprentice at Repton School will be hands-on, varied, and full of opportunities to develop your skills. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to the upkeep and improvement of our historic and modern facilities. Your tasks could include:
• Assisting with Repairs and Maintenance: Learn how to repair doors, windows, furniture, and other wooden fixtures across our campus.
• Crafting and Installation: Gain experience in crafting and installing bespoke wooden items, such as shelving, panelling, and storage solutions.
• Supporting Major Projects: Be involved in exciting renovation and restoration projects on some of the school’s historic buildings.
Each day will provide new challenges, allowing you to build essential carpentry skills while contributing to the school’s legacy.
Other Information
Repton school is quite rural and transport links are not great. Successful appointment will be dependent upon statutory criminal conviction checks including an enhanced DBS Check in accordance with the Children Act, as well as favourable reports from two referees. It will be assumed that the School may contact your nominated referees without further reference to you, unless you specify any alternative arrangements.
