Brief Description

Working under the direction and guidance of an experienced Team Leader, support the manufacture of our windows and doors whilst working towards a NVQ Level 2 in Architectural Joinery and achieve the skills and experience to become a fully operational Joiner

Qualifications Required

GCSE A* to C/9-4 in English and Maths or equivalent desirable

Work towards the relevant National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)

Training to be Provided

Level 2 Wood Occupations Site or Architectural (Bench) apprenticeship standard
Level 1 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and day/block release.? The programme will culminate in an End Point Assessment, where all the skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.

The role of an Apprentice Joiner involves the following duties:
? Learning the uses of different types of wood and choosing the right material for the job
? Understanding technical drawings and how your work will fit within the building
? Measuring and marking wood according to technical designs
? Cutting wood on machines or by hand
? Using a range of equipment from traditional tools to state-of-the-art computerised cutting equipment and hi-tech drawing and design software
? Conducting quality checks
